The Recycling Process
After collecting enough green waste (usually every two months) a large grinder is brought in. This machine makes short work of the massive green waste pile and will quickly begin turning it into windrows of compost.
Almost as soon as the green waste is thrown out of the grinder it commences the composting process. However the more the windrows are turned and aerated the better the end product will be.
The windrows are left sitting like this being turned about three times over a twelve week period. When fully "cooked" the compost is ready for screening. It is then that the organic fines and mulches can be extracted.
Green Waste Disposal
The Green Centre is a recycling facility for you to drop off your green waste. You can bring anything from a boot load of grass clippings to a truck full with a whole tree! (note we cannot take large tree stumps or palm trees)
There is a small fee for this service. There’s only one rule really…..NO RUBBISH
This means
- NO PLASTIC
- NO GLASS
- NO METAL
- NO PAPER
Any rubbish will contaminate the process.
